Johnson Named 2023 NAIA Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine Recipient

MESA, Ariz. — Easton Johnson of The Master’s has been named the recipient of the 2023 NAIA Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.

Johnson finished no worse than 11th in all 11 tournaments this season en route to earning PING First-Team All-American, PING All-West Region, First-Team All-Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC), and GSAC Freshman of the Year honors for the Mustangs. 

The Kansas City, Mo., native also won the 2023 Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award at the 2023 NAIA Men’s Golf Championship, becoming the second Mustang to ever win the individual national championship and first since Chad Wensel in 2004.

Leandro Mihaich of Oklahoma City, Ivan Ninkovic of Lindsey Wilson, Jack Ross of OUAZ, and Callum Waugh of Lindsey Wilson joined Johnson on the All-Freshman team.
