de Castro Named 2023 NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine Recipient

WARREN, Ohio — Alejandro de Castro of Anderson has been named the recipient of the 2023 NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.

The South Athletic Conference (SAC) Freshman of the Year, de Castro recorded six top-20 finishes in 10 events this season, including a wire-to-wire victory at the SAC Championship for his first collegiate win. The Saint Esteve Sesrovires, Spain native also earned PING All-Region and Second-Team All-SAC honors.

Blake Henriques of Shorter, Filippo Grossi of Wingate, Caden Hodges of Fayetteville State, and Lukas Taggart of Colorado School of Mines joined de Castro on the All-Freshman team.
