Provence Named 2024 NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine Recipient
WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — Wyatt Provence of West Texas A&M has been named the recipient of the 2024 NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.
Provence led the Buffaloes with top-25 finishes in all but one tournament this season with seven top-10s and two wins. This week, the Amarillo, Texas, native used 13 birdies and one eagle en route to a 12-under 201 (67-66-68), five-stroke victory for the lowest three-round total in NCAA Division II Championship history. Already receiving PING All-South Central Region recognition, Provence earned NCAA Division II Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion and PING First-Team All-American honors after the win.
Nick Canales of Central Oklahoma, Per Ekelund of West Florida, Brecken Franklin of Dallas Baptist, and Rudy Sautron of Cameron joined Provence on the All-Freshman team.
