Finalists Announced for NAIA Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips

CHICAGO – NAIA finalists for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips have been announced by the GCAA. The Williams Award honors the national coach of the year in NAIA men’s golf.

The five finalists are Mike Cook of Coastal Georgia, Texas Wesleyan’s Bobby Cornett, Brandon Miller of Keiser, Dalton State’s Ben Rickett, and Clayton Sikorski of Ottawa (AZ) If a team wins the NAIA Championship and its coach was not previously named a finalist for the Dave Williams Award that coach will be added for coach of the year consideration.

Cook led Coastal Georgia to seven wins this season. The Mariners were runner-up in their other three appearances. The Sun Conference Coach of the Year, Cook led Coastal Georgia to a No. 1 in the last three rankings of the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.

Cornett was named Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after leading Texas Wesleyan to its first SAC championship. It was one of five wins for the Rams. Texas Wesleyan’s other three finishes were runner-up twice and tied for sixth.

Keiser has won twice this season under Miller’s tutelage. The Seahawks finished in the top three in nine of 13 tournaments and were only outside the top four once.

Dalton State claimed five team titles in 2018-19. Additionally, the Roadrunners only placed outside the top five twice in 10 events. Rickett was previously named the Southern States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

In just the second year of the program’s existence, Sikorski lead Ottawa to three team victories this season. The Spirit only placed outside the top five once in 11 tournaments. Sikorski was named Golden State Athletic Conference coach of the year.
