Powell Division III Winner of Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award

SILVIS, Ill. – Grant Powell of Greensboro has been named recipient of the Division III Phil Mickelson Outstandng Freshman Award.

A native of Colfax, N.C., Powell opened his college career by winning the Transylvania Fall Invitational. He tied for runner-up at Jekyll Island and placed sixth at Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational. Powell placed in the top 20 in seven of 11 events. He was also named USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and first-team all conference.
