DOTTIE PEPPER TO SPEAK AT WGCA AND GCAA NATIONAL CONVENTIONS
NORMAN, Okla. – Two-time major champion and current CBS golf analyst and reporter Dottie Pepper will speak at the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Conventions December 11-13 in Las Vegas.
A celebrated collegiate and amateur player, Pepper was a three-time All-America selection, Southern Conference Athlete of the Decade and University Athlete of the Year and two-time University Female Athlete of the Year while competing at Furman. A member of the 1986 United States Curtis Cup team, Pepper was low amateur at the 1984 US Women’s Open and won the Symetra Tour’s Colonie Open as an amateur.
Pepper is best known for her success on the LPGA tour where she won 17 times, including twice at the Nabisco Dinah Shore (now the ANA Inspiration). She competed in six Solheim Cups, posting a 13-5-2 record and leading Team USA to four victories, and was assistant captain in 2013. Pepper was the 1992 LPGA Player of the year and claimed the Vare Trophy and GWAA Female Player of the Year Award the same season. She was twice named the South Carolina Professional Athlete of the Year and in 1993 won the ESPY for Best Female Golfer and the Jim Thorpe Award. In addition to her 17 official LPGA victories, Pepper won nine unofficial events and once on the LPGA of Japan Tour.
After announcing her retirement from the LPGA Tour on July 1, 2004, Pepper became lead LPGA analyst for the Golf Channel from 2004-2009. Additionally, from 2004-12 she served as on-course commentator and analyst for NBC Sports for PGA Tour, Champions Tour, USGA and PGA of America events. Pepper also served as a regular contributing columnist for Sports Illustrated Golf Plus from 2005-12. From May 2013 to April 2017, she served as a golf analyst, reporter and contributing writer for ESPN.com and ESPNW.com. Pepper currently works as a golf analyst and reporter for CBS Sports.
Outside of her playing and media career, Pepper was a member of the PGA of America Board of Directors from 2012-2015 and in 2015 served on the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship leadership advisory council. She also spent six years as an independent board member to the Northeastern New York PGA Section. From 2000-2010 she hosted the Loxahatchee Club LPGA Pro-Am. Pepper is co-author of children’s books Bogey Tees Off (Vols. 1 and 2) and Bogey Ballton’s Night Before Christmas.
