D’Souza Claims NJCAA Division II Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award

MESA, Ariz. – Leon D’Souza of South Mountain claimed the NJCAA Division II Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award for earning medalist honors at the NJCAA Division II National Championships.

D’Souza was tied for fifth after an opening round 1-over 73. A second-round 71 moved him up to second and one shot off the lead. Another 73 saw him drop to third but stay one stroke off the pace. D’Souza moved into the lead with early birdies at Nos. 2, 5, and 6. He would trade a birdie and bogey at Nos. 12 and 14. More birdies, this time at 15 and 18 moved him to 4-under for the tournament and a two-shot victory.

The win was D’Souza’s sixth of the season.
